You might be surprised to learn the term "dog walker”, besides the obvious, also refers to a type of cigar. Often associated with the “short robusto” or “petit corona” vitolas (term for cigar shape/size), a dog walker is typically shorter with a medium ring gauge. They’re often (though not always) mild to medium-bodied and are really for smoking quickly, in around 30 minutes; maybe 10 or 15 minutes if you smoke more aggressively like our Creative Director Angel Ramos does.
"I'm a big fan of a good cigar, and one of my favorites is a dog walker. Sometimes I'll grab an espresso and take a short walk through Greenwich Village near our atelier. The smaller-size is perfect for a quick smoke break, and it’s a great way to clear my mind and enjoy a moment of relaxation before getting back to work.” - Angel Ramos
When it comes to dog walker cigars, two brands we particularly enjoy are Davidoff and Partagas. Davidoff is a luxury cigar brand that's been around since the 1960s. Originally offering Cuban-made cigars, they are now based in the Dominican Republic. Their "Entreacto" line includes a 3.5 inch by 43 ring gauge cigar that's perfect for a quick smoke break. It has a mild, creamy flavor that's perfect for those who prefer a easy smoke. Partagas, a quintessential Cuban brand, is known for their rich, full-bodied sticks, and their "Serie D No. 6" is a great option for a dog walker. It's a smaller cigar, just 3.5 inches long with a ring gauge of 50, but it packs a lot of flavor.
Not surprisingly, Angel isn’t the only menswear figure that appreciates a dog walker smoke.

Famed author/journalist Gay Talese once quipped, ”Each evening after dinner, accompanied by my two dogs, I stroll onto Park Avenue to walk my cigar.” Talese, in addition to his writing career, was also widely recognized for his elegant sense of fashion and has been featured in numerous publications for his impeccably tailored suits and attention to detail in his dress. If there’s anyone whose advice and life you might want to emulate, it’s Mr. Talese.
So there you have it - whether you're walking your dog in Tribeca, taking a quick walk around the Village, or just want to enjoy a good smoke on the go, a dog walker cigar is the perfect choice. And you’ll be in good company - after all, many of the most well-dressed gentlemen appreciate the pleasure of a good cigar.
